Aaron Ramsdale switch, 'next Didier Drogba' move

Chelsea are gearing up for their second London derby in as many weeks when they face Brentford over the coming weekend. The Blues go into the tie in some better form than they've previously witnessed, with Mauricio Pochettino seemingly finding some consistency.
Wins over Fulham and Burnley brought confidence to the side, who then went toe-to-toe with title chasing Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. While they did squander a two-goal lead, eventually drawing the game, the overarching performance will no doubt show exactly where the project is moving.
There's still plenty of work to do though, including further moves in the transfer window as yet more players continue to be linked before the January market. Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been amongst those after losing his place to David Raya.
With that said, keep the blog on lock throughout the day as we bring you all the latest Chelsea news as it breaks!
January priority...
Shaun Wright-Phillips believes that Chelsea must sign a 'no-nonsense striker' similar to Didier Drogba in order to compete with Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham. Speaking to the Express, via BetWay Sports Betting, the former Blues winger said: "You can see that whatever Pochettino is doing at the moment is working, it’s just about putting the ball in the back of the net."I think if Nicolas Jackson scores that chance (late opportunity vs Arsenal) the game is over, but he tries to go round the goalkeeper and that’s another thing with the confidence, they might need a striker - a no-nonsense striker.
"You can say a [Erling] Haaland or [Julian] Alvarez or [Darwin] Nunez or Son [Heung-min], players who don’t care how the ball goes in the goal. It doesn’t need to look nice, it just needs to hit the back of the net. They miss a Drogba-like player, just to put the ball in the goal."
Carragher issue
Jamie Carragher was disappointed to see Raheem Sterling confront Cole Palmer over who should take the penalty in the clash against Arsenal. Chris Kavanagh, the on-field referee, pointed to the spot in the first-half after a header from Mykhailo Mudryk struck the arm of William Saliba.Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football show, the former Liverpool defender said: "I don’t really like that. I think people should know the penalty taker before the game. The one thing I did like was the actual authority shown by Enzo Fernandez.
"For a young player, he’s saying to a seasoned professional, Raheem Sterling, ‘listen, Cole Palmer is taking it’. Almost in that cool manner. He almost came across captain-like, maybe in his early 30s. I thought it was really interesting."
