Orlando Pirates star Patrick Maswanganyi has explained how the club are aiming to use their MTN8 success to push them in the league

Orlando Pirates star Patrick Maswanganyi has opened up on his side’s sluggish start in the DStv Premiership.
The Buccaneers have already lifted the first piece of silverware in the PSL, the MTN8 title, but their league form has been worrisome.
The Buccaneers are well behind runaway leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, having claimed just seven points from their opening five matches.
But Tito Maswanganyi believes their cup triumph will give them a major boost in the league!

“I think we started a bit slow with a loss [against Stellenbosch FC] in our first game, we managed to win other games. But we haven’t been consistent with our performances,” Maswanganyi said on Metro FM as quoted by FarPost.
“So, I think this one [MTN8 title] is going to boost us to be more consistent enough if we want to win the league. So, we have to work hard and try to improve our weaknesses and also to score more goals and fight as a team,”
In other news, Orlando Pirates legend Jomo Sono has heaped praise on Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena.
Mokwena’s side have successfully qualified for yet another CAF Champions League group stage round.
Mokwena’s side are also running away with the DStv Premiership title, after an incredible 100% start to the campaign with eight wins in as many matches.

“I think the difference with him is [that] he’s passionate about football, he’s passionate about coaching.” the Orlando Pirates and Bafana icon said as quoted by SABC SPORT.
“He works so hard, I think he works 24 hours that guy, I don’t think he sleeps. I don’t think he’s got a bed, I think his bed is a laptop. He just wants to look at football, new tactics, and blah, blah, blah. You can see the signs of hard work.”
