Afro-pop artist Intaba YaseDubai and acclaimed rapper Duncan are currently at odds. The dispute arose when Duncan accused Intaba YaseDubai of using his images in a promotional post for an event without discussing the booking fee first. Duncan has stated that his performance fee is R100,000, while Intaba YaseDubai has firmly stated that he will not pay such an amount.
Duncan, whose real name is Siphamandla Mbambo, recently released a new single titled "Ngiyabonga" and took to social media to request the removal of his name and image from the promotional poster of Intaba YaseDubai's upcoming event, the Khuphuka Music Event.
This event, hosted by Intaba YaseDubai (real name Lindokuhle Msomi), is held in his hometown of KwaMaphumulo on the north coast of KZN every Christmas. In response to Duncan's claims, Intaba YaseDubai made it clear on his social media platforms that he has no intention of booking Duncan at the requested fee. He stated, "I am not a pushover. Just because I handle matters in a Christian manner doesn't mean I should be exploited. From now on, if we cross paths, it will be confrontational," as expressed in one of his posts.
In a social media discussion, Intaba YaseDubai conveyed his belief that Duncan was capitalizing on his situation by demanding an excessive fee. He questioned, "Where am I supposed to find the R100,000 booking fee you're asking for? It appears you're intentionally targeting me, seemingly making light of my circumstances," as articulated by Intaba YaseDubai.
On a separate social media post, Duncan shared, "I recently released a heartfelt song, expressing gratitude to God for granting me another chance in life to create music and forgive my rivals in the music industry. I never imagined you would be among them, but it seems divine revelations are unfolding."
He went on to say, "I harbor no ill will towards you, and I hold your artistry in high regard. When you contacted my office about booking me, you were informed of my fee. Now, you've chosen to challenge me on Facebook regarding your December 25 event. I implore you not to bring these issues here."
Duncan clarified that he couldn't participate in the budget-friendly event on December 25th due to prior commitments. In response, Intaba YaseDubai extended an apology to his followers and stated that he wouldn't be securing Duncan's services, emphasizing their long-standing relationship.
When approached for a comment, Duncan expressed, "I believe Intaba is going through a tough period. He seems frustrated, and it appears he's directing his frustrations towards me. We've always had a positive relationship, so I was taken aback when he brought work-related issues into the realm of social media. My response was fueled by a sense of disrespect. I'm hopeful he will overcome this." Regrettably, Intaba YaseDubai could not be reached for comment.
